Steinhardt's Day of Service

Hey Steinhardt!

The Steinhardt Undergraduate and Graduate Student Governments are thrilled to announce the date and details of this spring’s Steinhardt Day of Service. It serves as a fun opportunity for Steinhardt students to volunteer and get involved with their surrounding NYC communities while also engaging with members of our very own Steinhardt Community. We hope that you would like to join us at one of the following volunteer events. Simply follow the individual instructions for the event you are interested in to sign up!

1. ON CAMPUS @ Pless Hall, 82 Washington Square East, 11am to 2pm:
Help make Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches for the Bowery Mission and Surgi-Dolls to be donated to local children’s hospitals! Note: You do not have to stay the entire duration of this event – you can stay for as long as you’d like!

2. ON CAMPUS @ St. Joe’s Soup Kitchen on 6th Avenue, preparing and serving food to the homeless and needy in the community at one of two shifts: 10-12:30 or 12:30-2:30.

3. OFF CAMPUS @ The Bowery Mission. Help the Bowery Mission sort through their donations and help re-paint some of the interior.

4. OFF CAMPUS @ The Yorkville Common Food Pantry (Upper East Side). Help fill need-based packages with food, clothing, and basic necessities, and then help distribute them to families and individuals in the early afternoon. 9:30am – 1:30pm.

5. OFF CAMPUS @ The Special Olympics’ NYC Regional Basketball and Aquatics Tournament (hosted at Fordham University). 8:30am – 4:00pm. Duties will include assisting athletes, time-keeping, and cheering for participants!.

6. OFF CAMPUS @ Central Park, 8am to 1pm.
Help out at Concern Worldwide U.S.’s annual Fun Run/Walk! Some duties will include set-up,
registering athletes and teams, and getting water to the participants.
If interested in participating in this event, please follow these steps:

2.) Scroll down and fill out the Volunteer Registration form. Under “Additional Information”, check only “Event Day (Sat April 10 in Central Park)”

3.) Click continue to submit the form. Check the email of the address you provided on the form to see if you have received a confirmation e-mail from Concern.

4.) If you have been confirmed as a volunteer, please e-mail and tell Carl at We’ll then decide as a group where we’ll meet beforehand so we can
travel together to Central Park.

Lunch will be served at Pless Hall at around noon and will be available to all volunteers. Steinhardt students are also allowed to register non-Steinhardt/non-NYU guests. Guests must be registered for the event in order to participate. We hope that you are able to join us on our day of giving back!
