Semi-Formal at The W

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Hey Steinhardt!

Our Annual Semi-Formal took place on Friday, February 19th from 8:00-11:00PM at The W Hotel in Union Square.  In the past our formal was held at Tavern on the Green, but this year we decided to change things up and bring our dance a little bit closer to campus.  In fact, you could see Carlyle Court from the dance floor.

After months of preparation and work, the formal turned out to be a big success! The food, catered by Todd English’s restaurant in the hotel lobby Olives, was delicious and unique.  Some of my personal favorites included the Spicy Yellow Fin Tuna Tartar (not to be mistaken with “spicy elephant”) and the Fried Truffle Macaroni and Cheese - which was my childhood dream!  Aside from the delicious cuisine, the room itself looked beautiful.  Lit in purple, the white marble really created an elegant and sophisticated environment and the floral arrangements were lovely.

Zach, our DJ for the evening, was awesome and we highly recommend him.  He kept the crowd dancing for the entirety of the evening and played all of our favorites (and let’s face it – there was tons of Lady Gaga and we loved it).

Thank you to everyone who had the opportunity to come out for the evening! I hope you enjoyed it!  Special thanks to the entire Steinhardt Undergraduate Student Government Executive Board and the Steinhardt Semi Formal Committee for helping me plan and execute the event.  I couldn’t have done it without you!

If you have any comments, questions, or concerns about the event, feel free to let us know what you thought at Steinhardt.usg@nyu.edu.
