Steinhardt Day of Service: Help others at the start of this holiday season

Enjoy helping your community and providing others with a memorable holiday? Like meeting fellow Steinhardt students? Want to have a fun activity for you and your friends to do on a Saturday afternoon? Join Steinhardt’s Student Governments (USG and GSO) for our Day of Service coming up on Saturday, November 14th! There are numerous service opportunities both on and off campus for you to get involved in. If you are interested in any of the following, please e-mail SteinhardtService@gmail.comwith the name of the event you wish to volunteer for in the subject line and your name, phone number, and class year in the body of the e-mail. You will receive a confirmation e-mail with further details shortly after.

1) ON CAMPUS: 11am-2pm, Pless Hall 3rd Floor (82 Washington Square East)

Make SurgiDolls for Project Sunshine and PB & J sandwiches for the Bowery Mission.
You may stay for as little or as long as you would like.

2) ST. LUKE’S CHURCH: Help prepare and/or serve a catered 3-course dinner to fellow New Yorkers suffering with HIV/AIDS.
St. Luke’s Church is located on 487 Hudson Street, only ten minutes from campus.
There are two shifts:
-Shift #1 is from 12-3pm and involves cooking and preparing the food. No cooking experience is necessary!
-Shift #2 is from 3-6pm and involves some food preparation, but mainly welcoming and serving the guests.


3) THANKSGIVING COOK-A-THON @ Martha’s Kitchen: 1-4pm. Help prepare a Thanksgiving feast for those in need.
Martha’s Kitchen is located on 201 W. 13th St. and 7th avenue.

4) THE NEW YORK CITY RESCUE MISSION: Help organize and prepare all of the NYCRM’s incoming holiday season donations.
The NYCRM is located on 90 Lafayette Street on the corner of White st.

5) ST. JOE’S SOUP KITCHEN: 10am-2pm. Help St. Joe’s Church meet the needs of the less fortunate in the Village.
St. Joe’s is located on 371 6th Avenue, only minutes from campus.

FREE LUNCH is available to all volunteers at Pless Hall, regardless if you sign up for the sandwich and SurgiDoll event at Pless or if you are going to be volunteering off-campus, so feel free to stop by for food before or after volunteering at an off-campus event. Also, friends are welcome to volunteer! All non-Steinhardt students may volunteer at Pless Hall or at any off-campus event. Please provide the name, e-mail address, and phone number(s) of any friends you would like to sign-up who WILL be in attendance.
